"Our King Has Come"
by Pastor Silas Doctor
"And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.โ Matthew 21:9
We look to many leaders in our life. From our earthly fathers to school leadership, city councils, all the way up to presidents, prime ministers, and kings. But only our King came to serve. Pastor Doctor explores our King's entry into Jerusalem and speaks about His life and His work, finished with His death on the cross and His bodily resurrection from the dead.
Ushered into Jerusalem riding a donkey and taking a meek, servant stance - that of our true King of kings and Lord of lords.
Other verses from today's sermon:
1 Timothy 6:13-16 - A Beautiful Picture of Our Lord; the King of kings
Luke 19:36-40 - Weeping over the city; a King unlike other kings
Isaiah Chapter 53 - Prophecy of Jesus' coming
by Pastor Silas Doctor
Folks, I am sharing some thoughts on what the Bible has been warning us about for many years that would happen some day! I believe that time is VERY near!
The next Scriptural event that will soon happen is the Rapture of the Church, which means those that are truly born-again, saved believers will be caught up and meet Jesus!
Mid-Week Service
Tonight we continued our study in Matthew Chapter 27 with verses 27 through 44. You can see all of Matthew Chapter 27 here.
We continued our study starting with verse 27 where Jesus' torture, humiliation, and sacrifice is described in detail beginning with the band of soldiers stripping Him and putting a scarlet robe on Him (v. 28). They put the crown of thorns on His head, a reed in His hand, and bowed down, mocking Him, saying "Hail, King of the Jews." (v. 29) We won't go into any more details as you can read the disgusting acts of the vile people yourself with the remainder of the passage. The amazing thing about all of this is that Jesus could have stopped it at any time, but He knew He had to complete the task - to reconcile us with God. ๐ฅนโค๏ธ
Do you know our Savior, Jesus Christ? Do you know about His precious holy blood that was shed for you on Calvary's tree, that old rugged cross, to pay for your sin debt? Did you know He thought about you while He was there? We pray you know Him as your Savior and if you don't, please make that ever-so-important decision today.
Sunday Evening Service
Bible Study
Tonight we continued our study in Matthew Chapter 27 with verses 15 through 26. You can see all of Matthew Chapter 27 KJV here.
Beginning in verse 15 we see where Jesus is brought before the chief priests and elders along with a man, Barabbas, who was a "notable prisoner" (verse 16). We spoke about how the chief priests and elders had envy for Jesus (verse 18), discussing about his notoriety, knowledge of the scriptures, and affecting their livelihood by taking people away from their religious practices. They envied him in many ways.
We continued our study into verse 19 and how difficult it can be to think of a man who, after hearing his wife worried about a dream she had, still took to the worldly counsel and, washing his hands of the innocent blood - showing that he knew Jesus was innocent (verse 24) - catered to the crowd, scourging Jesus and continuing our Savior along the path God had ordained so long ago. All for our debts, as sinners. ๐ฅน It all is so beautiful and we are not worthy, only Jesus is.ย
